Franklin County is a county located in the fictional U.S. state of Kenfortucky. As of the 2025 census, the population was 96,000+ cims, making it the most populous county in the state. Its county seat and largest city is Franklinfort, the state capital. The county was formed in 1834 from parts of Raleigh, Broadwater, and Munford counties and was named after the American inventor and statesman Benjamin Franklin. Franklin County is part of the Franklinfort, Kenfortucky Microp
olitan Statistical Area. It shares a name with Franklin County in Kentucky, where its twin city is located.

History

Franklin County is named after General Baldwin Franklin, a Confederate general who occupied much of the Kenfortucky River in 1852. The river splits the county east and west. Franklin County was established shortly after the Civil War in 1879. Before the county was established, Franklinfort existed as a fort and town. Its primary economy was based on the cotton and tobacco trade, and indentured servants helped grow and produce these two natural products for sale.
